About The Young Rhetoricians’ Conference

RHETORICIANS’ GATHERING—ON THE BEACH
THE CONFERENCE

The Young Rhetoricians’ Conference (YRC) is a college conference on composition and rhetoric for two-year and four-year colleges and universities. Initially held at San Jose State University by Hans P. Guth and Gabrielle Rico in 1984, the conference moved to Monterey Peninsula College. In 1994, conference leadership passed to Sterling Warner, Evergreen Valley College and Martha L. Henning, Portland Community College, and they moved the conference to its present location: the Monterey Beach Resort, the only beach front hotel in Monterey. Currently, Warner continues to chair the conference with co-chair Kathleen Hudson from Schreiner University.
